Mandatory Forum Warning Message
« on: 04 05, 2015, 11:37:43 am »
Base arguments:

Section 1.2.C of the Constitution
"Will be very transparent and always honest."

Premise:
"When a staff is adding a forum warning level to a person, an evidence of the rule violation should be included in the additional message"

Examples:
Show content

Reasons:
After a few discussions from this post, knowing that this can require unnecessary extra load for staff to do, it is to my understanding and I think this is commonly approved by the community that everyone deserves to know what they did wrong. It's not like we're making a rule-breaker more comfortable, as Vazz had said on that topic, but it's just that no one can learn from their mistakes if they aren't aware of their mistakes.

Since, there is a loophole in the rule that can lead to another warning when someone demands an evidence by PMing. Logically, the way to fix these issues from happening again is to let people know what they did wrong (I did receive a few feedback on this one).

Lastly, I did manage to establish a fact that this will make a staff have to do more efforts, but knowing the fact that this effort may have prevent a shit-storm or a sense of unfairness from staff happening, I think it's worth the extra effort.

I hope that this Ministerial Reports are taken into account.

Regards,

StevieFTW

Does this mainly apply to rule #4 useless posting? I used to warn a lot of people for that but now that we've got Minister of Suggestions I no longer have to spam warn everyone.

Depends what you mean by "mandatory" the only way to achieve this is to educate staff properly to make sure they use them. I can edit the warning templates for the rules like #4 saying they must include a quote at bottom of warning.

That will do, I guess.
By "mandatory", I mean the staff team should all be doing this as a standard. Might be hard to directly apply this at once, but since there's a lot of staffs that already do this, I don't think this will be hard, if one isn't willing to put some quotes or any screenshots, they can easily let the other staffs deal with it, delegation ftw.

I have experimented with the {MESSAGE} variable but all that does is add a link to the offending post, which is useless when we are deleting the post.

Staff will have to manually copy the offending post and put it in quote tags at the bottom of the warning when they issue it. I have added a note in the relevant warnings so that staff and players see a link to this post.

If a player gets warned and there was a link to this post but there was no quote they can complain to the Minister of Fairness as that staff has failed to issue a proper warning.
