[Assigned] Rules in multiple langauges.
« on: 05 01, 2012, 10:39:54 am »
Because of the high amount of people on the server that can't understand English I would like to suggest to make the rules in different languages. This way the amount of rule breakers that can't understand the rules will decrease and with that the total amount of rule breakers.

Translations done:
-Dutch by UniQ
-Spanish by Gonzalo
-Latvian by Matiss
-German by Amazonic
-Portuguese by Scribe
-Polish by MrSaint
-Russian by Noobochok
-Portuguese Brazilian by VictoR
-Estonian by Rodriguez
-Finnish by SpongeFin
-Bulgarian by Sievers
-Slovenian by ZanSlovenia
-Tunisian by SpriN'
-Hindi by TheGaMe
-Bahasa by StevieFTW
-Filipino by Shade
-Italian by Nico
-Norwegian by Robber
-Albanian by Ramshal aka Mana
-Serbian by Alien
-Swedish by Timtso

Red = still needs rule 14
Yellow = still needs to be checked
Green = fully done

Here is the file which includes ALL translations: http://pastebin.com/Wt9qYc8j

All languages  need to be checked, here is a format for checking:

Code: [Select]
1. Language you checked:
2. Did you change anything in the translation (yes/no):
3. Updated translation (if you changed anything):

Got more translations? post them here or PM them to me.

Has the rule saying that you must understand english to play on the server been removed? Well if not, why not just add a quick one-time english test with different options before your account can enter the game? Sounds like a pain in the ass, but it would really help CIT. People even get jailed for "not understanding", lol.

I support this. There are like 2 nations that constantly rule break because they don't know English.

Yeah this could be useful. You just need to find some people who can translate. :)

Check the language boards. A post there made with the very lame Google translate could find people who speak just enough English to understand, and then can provide a grammatically correct and understandable translation.

I'm agree, but this won't change nothing, the people dont know the rules not because they don't understand english, they don't read the rules,I did that when I joined, maybe a GUI wich can't be closed with the rules in different languages can be useful, this after the player registered his account, like the introduction video

It could be a panel like F1 one with buttons to select language like:  English, Deutsch, Svenska, Ukrainska ... or country codes : List of codes

The panel would appear as default on startup and you could easily turn it off in CITphone settings so everybody would see it at least once.

Btw except of the server rules you could put there more info like overview, job descriptions, faq, etc .. some of this is already done in translation files (abandoned project) on Other language forums.

Translation can be easily done with Google translate, as it is very advanced these days. Another idea, whenever a new account is created, they must read the server rules (assuming theres many languages avaliable) and there should be a small quiz before you can enter the server. This can also be applied to all exsisting players. Also, in all different languages, put the following in bold :"ONLY ENGLISH IN MAINCHAT"

I suggest that when a player enters the server will leave the option to select their primary language and in doing so it opens a window listing all the rules in the respective language selected.  :)

Google translate is awful on some languages, it'd be much easier to have multi-lingual volunteers do it so there is less risk of misunderstanding.

I like Negi's idea.

This could just be in F1 rules, on top of the rules page it should say in all other languages: Scroll down for [language].
I could do the Dutch translation myself.

I totally support this idea. However I'd say when you register at the first time (or login at the first time after this has been implemented) you would have to choose a language for the rules. You should also be able to change the rule language per CITPhone or command.

Would do the German translations.
