Title: GTA SA - timecyc mod doesn't change anything
Post by: GoldNugget on 29 05, 2020, 05:10:52 pm
So, I have a weird issue, never encountered before. GTA mods which change graphics or colors doesn't do anything at all, like ENB and timecyc mods. I tried re-installing GTA, tried installing them with auto-installer programs, tried installing manually and I couldn't make it work anyhow. Strange thing is that it all started after I re-installed GTA SA and I had timecyc/ENB mods previously installed and it worked perfectly, just in case, I use same GTA SA installer for years. Other mods like, weapon mods, HUD mods work without a problem.

I'd be glad if someone familiar with the occurrence can help me out.

Have you tried seeing if it works in GTA itself? I noticed that something called "Allow customized GTA:SA files" exists in MTA Settings, try ticking that and check again.

Well, I updated MTA SA and that option appeared in settings, but I can't even host my own game nor map editor, not talking about connecting to CIT. It always says "This server is blocking your customized GTA:SA files".

Not sure but you prolly got mods in your gta3.img that's blocking you from joining remove them then try connecting with the
"Allow customized GTA:SA files" enabled

I only dropped two timecyc files in data folder which change colors and weather, I didn't modify gta3.img, even though gta3.img modifications are allowed, like car and weapon mods.

Ya I know but it works in a weird way, try using the default gta3.img without any mod installed like weapons or cars worked for me

I found a post referring to my problem, but still, I couldn't find anything what indicates which file is corrupted in this location:

Quote
C:\ProgramData\MTA San Andreas All\1.5 > report.log

In your specific case, this is shown: CEntity_GetBoundRect - No collision for model:3991 refs:0 txd:806

This is what I get in that file after getting kicked from CIT:

Code: XML
  1. 7059: 2020-05-29 15:49:39 [9.20550.0.000 6.2(10.0) a] [04128-10028] - Resource file modifed by script (fileDelete): CITplayersMisc\MTAexploitsFix.luac 94.23.158.180:22003
  2. 9100: 2020-05-29 15:49:45 [9.20550.0.000 6.2(10.0) a] [04128-10028] - QuestionBox::Show [CUSTOMIZED GTA:SA FILES] This server is blocking your customized GTA:SA files.||To join this server please uncheck:|Settings->Multiplayer->Use customized GTA:SA files||

  4.

As I said, nothing indicates which file is corrupted.

C:\ProgramData\MTA San Andreas All\1.5 > report.log

In your specific case, this is shown: CEntity_GetBoundRect - No collision for model:3991 refs:0 txd:806

Reason: bad model in GTA3.img

gta_sa.exe @ 0x00134134: https://wiki.multitheftauto.com/wiki/Famous_crash_offsets_and_their_meaning

Bad model. Use unmodded gta3.img
Restore default gta3.img or original GTA installation (unmodded)

In your specific case, this is shown: CEntity_GetBoundRect - No collision for model:3991 refs:0 txd:806

So; restore model ID 3991 (https://dev.prineside.com/en/gtasa_samp_model_id/search/?q=3991) > GSFreeway7_LAn.dff. Restore backup: https://ufile.io/cmn855ic into GTA3.img using Alci's IMG editor because it's corrupt. After that, it should work; if it doesn't, and crashes because of another bad model, then give up and just restore GTA3.img or remove all mods.

This is exactly what I found and as I told you there is nothing which indicated to corrupted file in my case.

Updates? @GoldNugget

Well, I was forced to restore timecyc files to default ones, otherwise it wouldn't let me play.

I've a question to Brian or Arran, why does server need to make checks on timecyc.dat, because the reasons I've found to not allow it can't be counted as cheating on CIT, it'd be good if you allowed.

Quote from: Dutchman101
You could ask the server owner to whitelist timecyc.dat modifications.

Timecyc.dat can be abused to gain an unfair advantage over other players, a list of examples:

- Illuminating all other players with contrast or a bright color, for easy spotting over distance and tracking with a weapon

- Manipulating weather and perceived time of day (when it's night or bad weather for others in a gamemode combat map, the extra visibility would give you an advantage). Weather manipulation could also affect vehicle handling/tyre grip.

- Manipulating draw distance and detail against any server-defined or default limits that other players have, allowing you to spot and shoot others over ranges that other players without mods cannot.

This is why we had to do something.

Nervous, I'll be thankful if you'd mention devs, because I surely think that all of those years of allowing and using timecyc mods had nothing to do with unfair advantages on CIT at least.

Perhaps administrators blocked it as a wait to prevent cheating.

That's just list of what can be checked by MTA AC, I've seen everything already about that and you've probably didn't read my post above.

@GoldNugget Sorry, I've to lock this topic as it appears that no one knows what that problem is.
