Hey , I had this situation too . I was playing at 60hz within mta video settings fullscreen mode: standard . When I change this fullscreen mode : standard to borderless keep res , I get variable refresh rate between 60-77 and the game turns to ugly. I made research on it and I found a way (nvidia graphic card): - turn off to g-sync settings from nvidia control panel- close your adaptive sync or free sync from monitor settingsthese are worked for me.Game was locked to 144hz after doing this.I hope this will work for u too.If you have any ideas other than the solutions above, I would appreciate it if you let me know.
Hey. So yeah, the borderless keep res did make a difference. As soon as I hopped in the game, I could feel the smoothness. But yeah, the game looks blurry af. My G-Sync from Nvidia settings is off though. Is there anything I can do to make the game look normal?
if you turn off G-Sync from nvidia settings and turn off Free-Sync from monitor settings , hertz of monitor will be set itself to 144 in every situation. So, you can reset fullscreen mode to standard again. There will be no change in the monitor hertz. It will stabilize itself to 144.
Right click multi theft auto.exe > properties > compatibility > Disable fullscreen optimisations (ticked)Right click gta_sa.exe > properties > compatibility > Disable fullscreen optimisations (ticked)Hop in the game, make sure the game settings is set to full screen only and not full screen keep res or windowed. Let me know how it goes
I've had my game fullscreen mode set to borderless keep res in MTA settings for the longest time ever without needing to mess with gta_sa.exe and Multi Theft Auto.exe compatibility settings. It's been working great ever since, I've been able to actually feel 70 hz in LS and 77 in LV. This fullscreen mode makes the game appear darker but IMO it just makes it look better since the default mode to me has always looked overexposed, too bright. And as and added bonus you can instantly alt + tab in and out of the game with no delays. Use whichever method you like but I just wanted to let you know such option exists as well.
Yes you would be able to use the highest refresh rate on the bordlereless keep res setting but for certain players moving from full screen to keep res will or will not, give you blurriness, sluggish behavior, input lag, etc. Which is why I introduced the compatibility change which allows you to use Standard Full Screen on the highest refresh rate available. Hope that makes sense oh and for anyone wondering this applies to every old game too, if you'd like to take advantage of higher refresh rate in full screen, do the compatibility trick, you'll play smooth!
Any update @Punjabi
