IPhone SE is a lot better. If you bought iPhone 5S, don't buy a one with iOS 11.

I'd say go for an iPhone 6 or a 6s if you really want an iPhone specifically: The iPhone 5 family seems too old whilst the 6 family seems more modern and will probably do you just fine.
But if you're going for an old phone, just buy a used one.
