Hehe, well I kinda freak out when I hear my laptop really loud. Don't want it to break because of it when I'm sleeping or something.
I freak out too.
My fan is spinning like shit, but my computer is not that much over the regular heat, so I think it should be fine.

and every time I get to around 6-7%, the thing sets back to around 4%... Why?

Im using laptop and put it on full. According to windows task manager my CPU usage is from 50-60% not 100% as many are claiming, my fan is moving quite fast, would it still be OK, its time my laptop had some exercise.

True, I am using a laptop, I would have helped the people, but I don't want to destroy my laptop, since he had already a cooling problem.

You shouldn't really use it with a laptop since it will overheat and drain battery if it isn't plugged in.

Your device shouldn't be damaged/set on fire/etc from 100% usage constantly unless it's full of dust or blocked/broken/etc fans but even then any decent computer will shut down if it gets too hot.

This program using GPU?

Edit:Your CPU or GPU may become hot you can check with this programs
CPU checker:http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
GPU checker:http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

You must be careful if the temperature exceeds the degree of.

max temperature for GPU: 70~80
max temperature for CPU:70

(I did not say to each hardware, depends your cpu and gpu)

This program using GPU?

It does only with CUDA cores and OpenCL so your GPU does need to meet some requirements.
Here is a windows guide for the program: Click
Here is ATI gpu list: Click
Here is nVidia gpu list: Click

As you can see on the screen if your GPU is compatible with the software its shown on job list.
Also number next to CPU is a number of threads locked for job, so you can freely adjust how many cores/threads can be used to make your work at the pc good enough.

Generally if any laptop has compatible GPU with the software, putting slider to medium is good enough to prevent overheating, those without ATI and nVidia cards should do well even on MAX, but OS is getting to lazy to do anything else so playing with folding power slider can save the day.

This program using GPU?

If u set it to do so.. and you have a compatible graphic card like nvidia with cuda´s ,i for example have 2 evga gtx670 FTW, so I can use them and take advantage of all cuda´s processors,
but its very intensive to use gpu processing though if you have dd5 memory graphic cards and a good clock frequency its very very fast...
About the cpu ,its ok to them to work at 100% for hours and days if they have good cooling and no dust.
I had to remove my overclock to fold so I can do it for weeks without reaching overheating.

Every little helps still be aware that if you have installed it with "express install" or choose autostart with "custom install" program will start again after you will start your PC at other time. If you feel you can keep it for days with Light settings or even Idle and you wont even notice it working in background.
