Hello Community,

Today I'm here to suggest a small change to the hydra perk that is given to the L9 groups.

The current system: As most of the L9 group members know that they've been given a hydra perk where in you can shoot a missile without locking on to a target, but using this feature gives us a 20 second GLOBAL cooldown that means you will not be able to shoot any missile for the next 20 seconds, no even the locked ones, with no indicator provided to know when the cooldown ends, unless you count that 20 second in your mind or just predict that it is over.

The problem: From what I know, the developers are well aware of the bug the Hydra currently has. With that bug coming into the picture, this perk is more of a restriction to the L9s than a perk itself. Because we never know if someone we are fighting is bugged or not, this L9 missile will be released out of our hydra without our consent, giving us a 20 second GLOBAL cooldown, which we don't have an indicator to know when it ends, like I mentioned above. We do not have any other option rather than running away like a rat for the next 20 seconds unless our opponent takes us down. On the other hand, people using hydra from a non-L9 group can literally keep pressing the fire missile button, never bothering about the bug or the cooldown getting in their way. While we, L9s, have to think twice before pressing the fire missile button. And it's lot like the L9 perk is actually useful, nobody literally uses it. It is always released due to the bug or some object removing the lock on a target. Even if we wanted to use that L9 feature, It's already hard to know where it's going to land as we do not have any crosshair to set its accuracy. The same thing happens while air-striking a car. It is already hard to keep the target locked-on, and we never know which tree, billboard, or traffic light that did not render is going to come in our way and remove the locked-on car from our target, releasing the L9 missile, hence giving us the 20 second cooldown for us to chill around in the sky until our whole hydra is functional again. Again, in this case, someone from non-L9 can keep pressing the fire missile button, never bothering about a cooldown.

The solution: The only solution I can think of is to keep both the systems separate from each other. So, even if the L9 perk missile is launched without our consent, only the L9 perk should have the cooldown, not the whole hydra system. The original locking system should function normally as it does for any other non-L9s. Also, keeping in mind that this system is already present in the law farm dimension, so it will not take much of the developer's time.

It sounds good for both sides, I hope it will make both sides equal as well.

It is indeed very frustrating to be a flying duck after an L9 missile was launched, while in the meantime, you cannot use the regular missiles to engage the enemy, whether if it was launched intentionally or not (it's rarely used on purpose), the global hydra cooldown should be removed and only be kept for the L9 missiles, to prevent these kind of situations which only cause a huge disadvantage to players with the L9 perk

Positive!

Either separate the L9 perk system cooldown from the locking one or remove the perk completely.

This definitely is a problem that needs a fix. Not to mention that I've also suffered from this problem back when I was in an L9 group Positive  :tick:

Good suggestion, I still don't understand why there is a global cooldown after using that feature. Positive

Brondo sums up everything, the L9 rocket mis-firing really ruins any progress you've made and gives the target time to escape

Either the L9 perk should be kept as an option in /settings or the cooldown should be changed from a global one to a L9 rocket one only

That's the reason I entered this Discussions board and just found the topic I wanted to make. It is rather a limitation than some perk for Level 9 groups. Seperating heat-seekers and the L-9 perk one would be the best thing to do, I find this pretty annoying nowadays.  :tick:
